No Business Like Show Business

w/c 2 March 2020

The BID swung open its digital doors on Monday to applications for The Southend Festival, and we’ve not been disappointed. We’ve already had heaps of applications from local acts and artists looking to showcase their talents including singers and bands who will serenade the masses, comedians hoping to laugh your socks off, and magicians waiting to leave you in suspense.

Running from Friday 5 to Sunday 21 June 2020, the festival is back for it’s third year to celebrate the arts in the heart of Southend. With an events program that is bursting with creative energy from both local emerging talent and well established professionals, you’ll be sure to find an activity you want to see.

We’re looking for everything from traditional performances to party pieces that are a bit ‘out there’, performers looking to have their debut or old hats looking to trial new material, painters to graffiti artists, ballet dancers to dance troupes, choirs to rock groups - whatever your talent is, we want to hear from you.

In 2019 we had over 100 different events taking place over thirty-one days and this year we’re looking to jam pack even more across seventeen days for a festival that really kick-starts the Summer. We’ll be bringing back some of the crowd favourites like Chalk Fest and the Art Trail but mixing it up with new activities, and we want you to be a part of it.

As the saying goes “there’s no business like show business” so make sure you get involved by submitting your application at www.thesouthendfestival.co.uk by Tuesday 31 March 2020.
