South East Business Boost Marketing Officer, Darren Moss says, “The last 18-months has been tough for most businesses and many have had to adapt and change their priorities. At SEBB, we believe now more than ever, it’s essential for businesses to invest in skills training and/or infrastructure and capacity to thrive and grow in the future.” Darren continues “SEBB is here to help business across Essex, but the support is strictly available for a limited time, so we’re urging businesses to get in touch and see how we might be able to help them.”

ROSITO ERO FROM ROSIE’S INTERIORS BENEFITTED FROM THE FREE 12 HOUR TRAINING PROGRAMME COURTESY OF SEBB

“There was not one workshop I couldn’t take something new away and use it to develop my business further. The trainers were very knowledgeable and made it so real to my business, using clear, understandable language to help me understand the jargon.” Rosie continues “The re-evaluating my business workshop really helped me to stop, take a step back and reflect on where my business is today, and where it should be and help me re-structure my business, so I would urge any business to get in touch with the SEBB team before the support runs out.” Said Rosita

ROOS COFFFE – BENEFITTED FROM A CASH INJECTION TO HELP TOWARDS NEW EQUIPMENT FOR THEIR BESPOKE COFFEE CART

Becca and her partner, Ali, are passionate about great coffee and were experienced commuters. They saw a gap in the market to provide the best quality speciality coffee for people on their way to work in London.

After success with their Chelmsford coffee cart, the pair wanted to expand. That’s when they found the SEBB website and applied for a grant.

But it was the day before the monthly grant review deadline! Fortunately they need not have worried. Ali and Becca found the process so easy they completed and submitted their paperwork by 12 noon on deadline day.

Their submission was approved and they received £2,482.48 – 30% of the £8,274 it cost to buy the equipment that creates a luxurious black oak and brass barista experience. They’ve now taken on 2 members of staff too!

The grant process was very straightforward, we got our quotations and submitted our application for review.

It was so helpful to us as a start-up because it is a big sum of money that was easy to acquire and gave us an almost immediate cash injection.

The ethos of help for the local economy also matched our own business ethics.
