A 2020 Novelty

w/c 24 August 2020

This weekend we are all going to experience a 2020 novelty – a bank holiday where we can be outside of our house with other people (at a distance!). I am of course discounting New Year’s Day as, if you are anything like me, it was a self-imposed bank holiday lockdown that day.

So how are you going to spend your days? Take a stroll down our 700m long high street and pop into the shops for a bit of retail therapy. Arrange to meet a friend you haven’t seen in months for a socially distanced coffee or glass of wine. Spend your change along the arcades with the hopes of winning a cuddly toy. Watch your kids happy faces as they have another turn on a ride at Adventure Island. Walk along the seafront and indulge in a 99 with extra toppings. Or head out for a date night dinner with your partner.

Whatever your plans, our businesses are now open in Southend so make the most of your days off in our town without having to spend the extra money on a trip away. And with Monday being the last day of the Government’s Eat Out to Help Out scheme you can feed the whole family for less whilst you are at it. There are plenty of Southend businesses taking part in the scheme which can see you saving up to 50% off your meal so don’t miss out on this offer and book now before it’s too late.

You can find the list of Southend venues taking part and inspiration for other fun things to do this weekend by heading over to www.VisitSouthend.co.uk. Remember that select Southend car parks have two hours for the price of one until the end of September and free parking after 4pm!
