Southend has been adorned with over 1,000 metres of bunting throughout the length of the High Street over the weekend thanks to Southend Business Improvement District (BID).

The colourful bunting has been installed by on the streetlight columns and is festooned from each side of the High Street. The triangular bunting scheme adds a welcoming touch to the main shopping and dining area of the town and will be in place until October.

BID Manager Suzanne Gloyne says “We usually have the bunting installed in March but we delayed the activity this year due to the pandemic and subsequent temporary business closures. Now that businesses are reopening we felt it was the right time to reintroduce schemes that add a positive atmosphere to the town.”

She added “After a long period of inactivity in the High Street it is great to add this colourful display which gives the town an instant face lift as we welcome more people back to our BID businesses. We hope they will prove to play their part in drawing in more shoppers, residents and visitors to come and enjoy the town centre at a time when businesses need it the most.”
