In light of today’s tragic events, we have decided to cancel tomorrow’s (16th Oct) seafront firework display, out of respect for Sir David Amess’ passing. The heinous crime that took place at Leigh-on-Sea earlier today has left our community shocked, saddened and appalled. Our thoughts are with Sir David’s family at this time and we hope you will join us in grieving the loss of a truly dedicated public servant.
All other seafront firework displays will continue as planned and we apologise for any inconvenience this cancellation causes, however, we do not feel it appropriate to go forward with such a celebration this weekend.
