Southend Blooms this June

Southend City BID install hanging baskets throughout the city centre

Southend High Street and its adjoining streets have had a colourful makeover this June, all thanks to the Southend City BID.

156 large hanging baskets full of vibrant floral displays have been installed on the lamp columns in the High Street and along London Road, Queens Road, Clifftown Road, Tyler Avenue, Clarence Road, Elmer Approach, Station Approach, and Alexandra Street.

The displays have ‘self watering’ baskets to minimize the frequency of watering visits to twice a week and to keep the blooms looking bright and beautiful until they are removed in October.

BID Manager Suzanne Gloyne says

“The floral displays look incredible, instantly enhancing the look of the city centre, especially alongside our brightly coloured bunting too. We hope they will prove to be a positive visual impact for shoppers, workers, residents, and visitors enjoying Southend across the summer season.”
