Refill - Become A Refill Station

Updated: Aug 25, 2020

Refill is a national tap water scheme that aims to encourage visitors to refill containers easily at refilling points across streets and town centres. Already a huge hit in cities and coastal towns across the UK, those including Lowestoft, Isle of Wight and Brentwood, have a Refill scheme in place. Some Southend BID businesses have also signed up to it.

Plastic and recycling is a major press topic at the moment, with Leigh-on-Sea setting up a plastic-free supermarket, Lidl removing plastic packaging from their shelves and the BBC highlighting the somewhat devastating effects its consumption has had worldwide, with a documentary called Drowning in Plastic due to air on Monday 1st October. Refill is a positive first step in reducing the levels of plastic waste here in Southend.

Southend BID are offering you the chance for your business to join Refill and become a refill station. Easy to join, simply download the relaunched Refill app from iTunes or Google Play depending on your device, go to Get Involved and click Add A Station from the options. You can also follow the simple instructions here on how to add your premises as a refill station. Once you have signed up, please email hello@southendbid.com to receive a sticker to place in your window to inform people that they can visit your establishment to refill their drinking bottle or container. The app also allows you to track your impact helping you to make a worthwhile change.

We look forward to your involvement. Business FAQ's can be found here.
