New BID Manager Appointed

Updated: Dec 9, 2019

Welcome to our new BID Manager Suzanne Gloyne!

Suzanne Gloyne takes over from Alison Dewey

Dennis Baldry, Chair of the Southend BID Board and Manager of the Victoria Shopping Centre said: “I’m delighted to welcome Suzanne to this important role for the town centre and seafront. She is joining us from a sales and marketing role at Bosch, and brings with her a lot of commercial experience backed by real enthusiasm and a passion for the town.”

The Manager’s role is to support the businesses in the Business Improvement District and help them to achieve their aim of continuing to develop Southend’s High Street and famous seafront area into the region’s most visited destinations and great places for commerce, leisure and culture.

Suzanne – who comes from Leigh-on-Sea – said: “I was searching for a new challenge in a role that I could bring both my skill set and passion to, and when I saw the BID Manager role advertised, I just knew I had to apply. To be able to work in the area where I have grown up and to help it thrive in partnership with local businesses is a joy and I can’t wait to continue the good work that Alison and the team started.

“My experience with Bosch helped me develop important relationships with a variety of organisations and I believe it is my commercial background that will bring fresh energy to helping our levy payers in the challenging trading environment. My first task has been getting to know the businesses, understand their priorities and hear what projects they would like to see brought to the BID.”

She added: “I have set myself a number of objectives, which include promoting the strengths of Southend locally, regionally and nationally, developing the town centre and seafront as a great place for visitors and people who live and work here to enjoy, make sure the town centre is even more welcoming and easily accessible, plus encourage growth and development of our current businesses and prospective investors.”

Dennis Baldry said: “Suzanne has already thrown herself into the role, speaking with our businesses, liaising with Southend Council and planning future events, but in the meantime if you would like to know more information about the BID this can be found www.southendbid.com and www.visitsouthend.co.uk.”
