High Street Bollards

Letter to businesses from Southend-on-Sea Borough Council


High Street – new controlled bollard system


As you may be aware the existing controlled bollard system in the High Street is in need of replacement. The old system will be upgraded with a new and improved system which will increase protection and security at all accesses onto the High Street.


Works are programmed to start on Monday 12th July 2021 and are due to be finished in November 2021, although this may be subject to change depending on factors such as weather and access. The works will take place at the following locations: London Road, Queensway, Southchurch Road, Leather Lane, Queens Road, Warrior Square, Elmer Approach, Station Approach, Whitegate Road, Tylers Avenue, Clifftown Road, Weston Road, Clarence Street, Alexandra Street, Heygate Avenue, The Royals Shopping Centre, Market Place, Richmond Avenue, Royal Mews and Pier Hill.


During the works, which are being carried out by Eurovia, every effort will be made to keep inconvenience to local businesses to a minimum with access for deliveries and pedestrian access to frontages being maintained throughout the works. Our Public Liaison Officer, Veera, will be in contact with all affected businesses to discuss any necessary requirements.
