Enjoy Summer Safely - Shop Local Week

The Government has launched Shop Local Week, as part of the #EnjoySummerSafely umbrella campaign, which is running all summer. Shop Local Week reassures shoppers that safety is paramount, and that their custom is valued by local high streets. Commencing 10 August and running until 17 August, Shop Local Week encourages people to pop out to their local high street and shop safely. Businesses and shops on high streets up and down the country have adapted since the outbreak of coronavirus, and are able to welcome customers back to business- almost-as-usual. Shop Local is a dedicated week within government’s Enjoy Summer Safely campaign, which aims to inspire the public to get back to the things they enjoy, whilst following coronavirus safety guidelines. Join the campaign to demonstrate how your business is safely welcoming customers back. How to join in What can your business offer to customers that they cannot get elsewhere? What makes the customer experience in your business unique and different to what they get online? You know your customers best, so let's all join the Shop Local campaign by doing the following: 1. Use your social media accounts to join the conversation, telling us why people should shop local in Southend using #ShopLocal, to help encourage customers back to the shops. The more personalised to your business and our town, the better. 2. Post photos, gifs, videos and Boomerangs that illustrate your key messages. For example, a photo with your staff; an Instagram Story showing off some local produce; or maybe a short video showing how you’ve made your shop safe. 3. Tag in the Department for BEIS (Business, Energy, Industrial Strategy) and our local accounts for the chance to get your business seen on a larger platform. Handles to use shown below:
